{ Sarah & Phillip: Wedding Post #1! }

You may remember Sarah and Phillip from their engagement session last November. They recently had their wedding in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on a miraculous farm called Oakland Manor. Sarah and Phillip are just the sweetest and most gorgeous couple you could ever hope to meet. I adore them both! Below are some of my favorite pictures I took from their ceremony...

Sarah and Phillip decided to have a "first look" before the ceremony. Since they have been dating for six years it was a very emotional time...

I caught this shot right before the ceremony of Sarah and Phillip looking outside to see dark clouds and drizzle. They were both very cool about the rain but lucky for them it cleared up for a sunny, wonderful wedding!

What a vision in white... :)

I can't wait to post Sarah and Phillip's reception! Be watching for it!!!

{ Alyson & Ted: Wedding Post #2! }

Post #2 of Alyson and Ted's wedding begins with the ride in the trolley to the reception site... (Makeup by Ana Crane-Simpson!)

I loved, loved, loved the parasols Alyson got the bridesmaids as gifts!

Alyson and Ted had their reception at the sensational Speed Art Museum. The next couple of photos were art instillations in the museum...

For those of you who don't know this about me, I am also a glassblower. So you can imagine the giddiness that washed over me as I saw one of my favorite glassblower's work on display in the museum. Stephen Rolfe Powell is a world-class glassblower who is also a professor at the prestigious Centre College. I thought that this colorful work of art of his was the perfect backdrop for the ring shot...

I think it was so cool that Alyson and Ted invited their guests up to the dance floor to share with them their first dance...

The band Alyson and Ted booked from Atlanta,GA, Mo' Soul, where out-of-this-world amazing! They were so talented and had so much energy that you couldn't have a bad time if you tried. I know I caught myself and my assistant, Kristen, bobbing our heads a few times. :)

At one point one of the singers came out onto the dance floor to serenade the guests!

And then just as the band member had come down onto the dance floor, she invited one of the party-goers up on stage for a guest appearance.

{ Alyson & Ted: Wedding Post #1! }

You may remember Alyson and Ted from their engagement session at their family farm in Versailles, Kentucky last November. I was soooo excited to shoot their wedding and I was not disappointed when the day finally came. When I first met Alyson she told me that she wanted her wedding to be like a fairy tale and like "the best dream you've ever had, the one you wish you could go right back to sleep to." I absolutely loved that expression and I think they (along with uber-skilled wedding planner, Louise Robinson) nailed it with their radiant wedding at the Calvary Episcopal Church and reception at the super cool Speed Art Museum. Below are some of my favorite pictures from the ceremony and everybody getting ready beforehand. I love the first shot! (Makeup by the talented Ana Crane-Simpson!)

The photo below is of Alyson sharing a personal moment with her sister and maid of honor, Ansely, before the ceremony. As you can see from the next couple of pictures everyone was quite emotional before the wedding...

Alyson wore Ted's family's stunning veil that has been worn by every bride in his family since 1963...

Alyson wrapped her bouquet in her grandmother's handkerchief that had been monogrammed with her married initials and wedding date. The blue and green broach was also her grandmothers. All of the beautiful flowers were created by the brilliant Amy Streeter of Susan's Florist!

Ted presented this gorgeous family heirloom to Alyson as a wedding gift. Sigh...

Royal cobalt blue Christian Louboutin's...swoon...

Alyson and Ted chose not to see each other before the ceremony but they still wanted to take couple portraits at that time so I set them up in the church with the door between them. It was so sweet to hear them talk all cutesy back and forth to each other while still keeping their tradition...

I love this portrait below. Alyson got her dress (which her and her family and friends lovingly nicknamed "the cupcake") at Rebecca's Wedding Boutique.

I loved the smile Ted had on his face that stretched from ear to ear as Alyson walked down the aisle...

What a beautiful moment shared by the two of them directly after the ceremony...

{ Dreaming in the Dark: "J" }

When "J" came into the studio she arrived with very little in the way of accessories that she absolutely had to use for the session. She trusted my instincts as a photographer and I think deep down Dreaming in the Dark sessions are about the body and about intimacy. I loved so many photos from the session. Many are rated R so I have opted to share the PG-13s with you, but the sensuality is on full throttle.

In the final part of the session J told me that she wanted to portray devastation, totally "being destroyed". With the help if Ana Crane Simpson's amazing skills and Jenny's full commitment we did just that.
