Ok, no more of that talking in third person!

A little known fact about me is that I love glam pop. I have to admit I adore all things that are rough around the edges with a glossy sheen over top! One of my favorites is Goldfrapp! If you have not already heard Goldfrapp then you are missing out!

Listen to it and tell me if it does not make you want to ride a diamond-encrusted horse into space (from her music videos) or be the sexy female lead singer of a glam pop band!

Megan was studying in Alabama when her mom called me up to book me. Debbie (mom) called me once she spoke to Ivey at the Headley and was certain that I was the one to cover the wedding. When we spoke over the phone I knew I was excited to book the wedding. Debbie was so excited about her daughter's wedding and it came across! She was so excited to get another detail taken care of for Megan. So because Debbie booked me back in June of 2007 I did not get a chance to actually meet Megan and Jeff until their engagement session in mid-April. So here are some snippets that I got from them on that occasion!

I knew their wedding day would be beautiful. The Headley is one of my very favorite backdrops in Kentucky. It is so beautiful and really speaks to the heart of the beauty of the state. The weather on the day was perfect. For August it was not as hot as one would expect and had a lovely cool breeze blowing in. Megan looked so gorgeous. I loved the colors: hot pink and black. It had attitude and confidence. Here's a cool fact about Megan and Jeff: Jeff proposed to Megan on a hot air balloon ride! Seriously. Now that is pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

I love the first look between Megan and Jeff pictured above. Megan is such a free spirit, you can just tell by her expression. Ah, I just adore them!!

Little Known Facts About Angela and/or Amy, #1:

Or a few more. I had picked out four more portraits of the two of them that I just had to share. (Jamie and Joe, I am so ruining all of the slideshow by posting most of the photos on the blog but I cannot help it!!).

But speaking of the slideshow I was choosing songs that moved me to use for Jamie and Joe's slideshow and one especially stood out so I decided to copy and paste the lyrics at the bottom of this post. I think it speaks so much to  how I feel about them as a couple and as new family.

        Blossom, Ryan Adams

Without anyone to love you
What will you blossom into?
Without anyone to hold you
How will you grow?
And in the Wildwood trees
The wild wind blows
And the nighttime crushes the hurricane rose
And with no one to care for you
Who knows
Blossom for me rose
You're the picture of my love
Blossom for me rose
Stretch out underneath the stars
And when tomorrow comes
I will hold you up
Little blossom, shining in the sun
Without any place to go to
What will your soul return to
Without anyone to keep you
Where will you go
And in the shadows of the past
Where you're spinning so fast
It's hard to see it coming
And it never lasts
And with nothing to judge your life by
How will you know
Blossom for me rose
You're the picture of my life
Blossom for me rose
Stretch out underneath the stars
And when tomorrow comes
I will hold you up
Little blossom, shining in the sun
Without anyone to love you
What will you blossom into
Without anyone to hold you
How will you grow

You're the Picture of My Life  (I love that line)

Alright, so, storytelling time. Jamie first contacted me at the beginning of 2008 to ask if I traveled for weddings (and I do! And so does Amy!) and if I was available for her destination wedding. She had been referred to me from my absolutely awesome past clients, Heather and Jeff! Jamie and Joe knew Heather from dental school. Joe is a dentist with a practice in Somerset, KY.

At our first meeting Jamie and Joe both stressed how important family and friends are to them. It was going to be a relatively intimate wedding at Lake Oconee, Georgia (outside of Atlanta) and that they wanted the best photographer who would capture the moments of the wonderful people they know and love that would delight them for the rest of their lives. I thought that was awesome. Like many of us our family and friends are at the center of our lives and certainly at the center of such an amazing occasion such as our wedding day!

So after the meeting I had communication here and there with both of them. Jamie emailed me one day to ask if I did boudoir sessions (I call them "Dreaming in the Dark" now) and when I said yes, we immediately made the plans for the session to take place. A bottle of champagne later she had such an incredibly personal, intimate and sensual gift to give her new husband (see below for pictures of Joe on the wedding day with his new favorite book!).

We planned to come down early to photograph some of the wedding weekend festivities. I love it when we spend more than just the wedding day with our clients! Any time we can spend with them just helps us get to know them better and know the people who are especially important to them even more as well. This is why we love capturing engagement session and photographing rehearsals or any of the wedding weekend events.

You can see the post below this one that covers the day before the wedding. But on to the wedding day itself...

jamiejoe_blog_020.jpgJamie and Joe personally made the wine they gave their guests. I thought it was a wonderful personal touch!

jamiejoe_blog_021.jpg
Jamie's beautiful gown. I should have some bridals up in a week or two. She will be in the studio on Monday to have her bridals taken!

jamiejoe_blog_022.jpgThe stunning bride.

jamiejoe_blog_023.jpgJoe's niece comes in to greet Jamie. Jamie and Joe have been together for 10 years so you can tell how deep their bond is with each other's families. Plus Jamie has the softest, kindest heart. She had to try so hard not to cry nearly every time she saw someone. She was so overwhelmed with joy at being a part of a new family. The love was deep and amazing.

jamiejoe_blog_024.jpgJamie puts on the new, gorgeous necklace (also came with earrings!) that Joe gave her as a wedding gift (Go Joe!).

jamiejoe_blog_025.jpgAnd the man himself!

jamiejoe_blog_026.jpgAnd the awesome gift that Jamie gave Joe that morning!! ;)

jamiejoe_blog_027.jpgI loved the suits the guys wore. Very Southern. And as a Southerner myself I just have to say holla! ;)

jamiejoe_blog_028.jpgI love these kinds of portraits. It is the time when we are taking the more formals but those moments of pure emotion sneak in! I love her neice's cute scrunched up face. She is soooooo excited to have Jamie as an official aunt!

jamiejoe_blog_029.jpgI love this photograph of Jamie's grandmother. The lighting is so beautiful and it was just a stolen moment, she had no idea we were photographing her. At the reception she came up to us and said she heard that we took a beautiful photograph of her and that she wanted it. I told Jamie that we would love to send her a 5x7 for her frame. It was so cute!!

jamiejoe_blog_030.jpgAnd then the ceremony...

jamiejoe_blog_031.jpgAnd so James Bond of him -- Joe and his groomsmen arrived by boat to the ceremony!

jamiejoe_blog_032.jpg
jamiejoe_blog_033.jpgI have a lot of photos of Jamie's dad walking her to the altar but none of them moved me like this. See, at the rehearsal Jamie's dad was saying that he was going to do everything he could to keep from crying when he walked her down the aisle. He had a hard time at the rehearsal but was determined to make it through the ceremony. I love this moment because it is where Jamie's dad is taking a big breath to try and hold his composure. I truly loved this family!

jamiejoe_blog_034.jpg
jamiejoe_blog_035.jpg
jamiejoe_blog_036.jpg
The reception location. Beautiful and rustic.

jamiejoe_blog_037.jpgAgain, another wonderful moment. This was during the toasts. Jamie and Joe had this quick little moment that I doubt many people saw. It just shows how happy they truly are.

jamiejoe_blog_038.jpgAnd the first dance.

jamiejoe_blog_039.jpgWatch out! The reception party was off of the proverbial hook.

jamiejoe_blog_040.jpgOk, when dad has moves like that everyone needs to get off the dance floor because it is being owned.

jamiejoe_blog_041.jpgJamie and Joe had to get in on the moves.

jamiejoe_blog_042.jpgI don't remember what was happening at this point I just love how excited they are!

jamiejoe_blog_044.jpgJamie is well-loved by children! She is so sweet, it is easy to understand why!

jamiejoe_blog_045.jpgOh and I had to finish with another gorgeous baby photo. I mean look at these beautiful happy babies...makes me think Gary and I might need to hook something like that up. ;) I love this picture! He is adorable!!!

Don\'t worry, the announcements are still on their way, just a wee bit delayed.

But I have been receiving a number of emails as of late and I thought I would address it here, on the blog...so FYI: YES, Amy or I can photograph your bridal session or a Dreaming in the Dark Session (modern boudoir) even if your wedding day was in the past or we are not your wedding photographer. We recommend that you ask to see if your photographer for your wedding offers these sessions, but if they do not or you specifically want our style/us just drop us a note. ;) We get asked over and over again if we are only wedding photographers who only service our wedding clients and the answer is no, we offer sessions to anyone.

And...there will be even more exciting announcements regarding this coming up soon!

But I will leave you with a photograph -- I was finishing the edits on a wedding and thought it might be fun to share a few slideshows and album designs over the next few weeks. So here is a recent slideshow: Dena Scott (click on the image below):

Since we were with Jamie and Joe for two days there are lots of photos to share! I thought I would break it up into two days of posts to make it more exciting!

I will talk more about Jamie and Joe in their wedding day post but for now -- here is the day leading up to the grand event...

So Jamie used to be a swimmer and both she and Joe love water so it was only natural for them to want their wedding and the festivities surrounding it to be near a favorite lake of theirs. We went out on the boat with them on the morning of the day before the wedding. Tubing! See Jamie to the far right...

jamiejoe_blog_003.jpgAnd I could not forget Joe! Way to hold on!

jamiejoe_blog_004.jpg
Later that same day Jamie and Joe had a cookout rehearsal dinner at the amazing house they were renting. It had a beautiful view out the back porch...

jamiejoe_blog_005.jpgYum!

jamiejoe_blog_006.jpgRight before dinner we took Jamie and Joe out to tha backyard for some photographs. I love this moment between them.

jamiejoe_blog_007.jpg
jamiejoe_blog_008.jpg
jamiejoe_blog_009.jpg
There were countless beautiful babies at the rehearsal dinner. They were being passed around like crazy. They were just too adorable to not want to hold one! Look how sweet she is!

jamiejoe_blog_010.jpg
On the morning of the wedding day the guys went out for a golf game. It was a perfect day for golf.

jamiejoe_blog_011.jpgAs you see below one of the wedding attendees/golfers had far too much fun at the rehearsal dinner the evening before. Don't worry he was quite sprightly when the wedding event came around!

jamiejoe_blog_012.jpg
Another yummy picture below. The gals all went to a salon at the Ritz while the guys were golfing. Doesn't that muffic and smoothie look delicious and good for you?
